Bloodbonds
There are objects, in our lives, in which our footprints are embedded, which we shape according to the use we give them and operate as a kind of testimony, of living memory. These objects - clothing - "speak" of absence, presence, refer to personal and collective stories and how they were part of the history records. My idea is to create a personal narrative in the plot of collective memory, like a writing, in which iconic images are endowed with a new meaning. The history of spoliation, of what was taken from us, is restored to the viewer. My work asks the viewer to completed with their gaze. Although this particular work that I present here - "Blood-bonds” – is focused on pain and suffering, it represents the possibility of restitution of life, through the circulation and renewal of blood, where transfusion bags operate as receptacles of personal and genetic memory, which, when multiplied by a repetitive pattern, also become collective memory.
