There are objects in our life that are imprinted with our traces; we mold them with our daily use; we shape them with our habits; they belong to us because they speak about us and our own life story; they constitute a testimony and remain as a living memory.

The latest works by Liana Strasberg, are based on this kind of objects; the ones that speak for themselves due to the way they have been used or worn, and the traces that have been left by life experiences. The core concept is presence in clothing that transcends and goes beyond the person.

At the Buenos Aires Holocaust Museum where her last show was held, the main protagonists were shoes, the shoes whose footprints unravel social status, personal stories which irrevocably take part of History.

From a semiotic and aesthetic point of view, her works at hand allow us to grasp the garments’ connotations. This exhibition awakens our senses to seize the different layers in social and cultural meaning that each piece of clothing carries within. A dialogue between the wearer and the garment is established in the folding and bends, in that close contact of skin and fabric, bearing an emotional load that defines us.
